Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Hoodie Academic Community, including the website, teacher search, teacher reviews, AI-assisted teacher profiles, membership features, billing flows, redemption codes, reward tasks, and Chrome extension. By using Hoodie, creating an account, submitting a review, purchasing a membership, or installing the extension, you agree to these terms.

What Hoodie Provides

Hoodie helps students and academic community members browse teacher and supervisor profiles, read and submit reviews, compare teachers, review courses or mentorship experiences, and use a Chrome extension that detects teacher names on supported academic pages. Some features are free, and some require Hooded Fellow membership.

Hoodie is an independent academic community service. We are not a university, school, employer, payment institution, or official representative of any teacher or institution shown on the service.

Neutral Platform Disclaimer

Hoodie provides a neutral information platform for academic community discussion and decision support. We do not create, endorse, guarantee, or adopt the opinions, factual claims, ratings, search snippets, public-source summaries, or AI-generated conclusions shown on the service.

• User-generated content: reviews, ratings, comments, and submitted teacher information are provided by users. They reflect the submitter's personal experience or opinion, not Hoodie's official view. We do not verify every user submission before it appears or before it is used in aggregated features.
• Network and public-source content: public academic information, search evidence, citations, profile facts, integrity signals, and external references may come from third-party websites or search systems. Such information may be incomplete, outdated, misattributed, unavailable, or changed by the original source.
• AI scoring and summaries: AI-generated scores, tags, radar charts, rankings, dimensions, extracted evidence, and profile summaries are automated estimates based on available reviews, metadata, and public evidence. They may contain errors, bias, hallucinations, over-weighting, under-weighting, or missing context, and they should not be treated as objective truth or an official evaluation of any person.
• No endorsement: displaying a teacher profile, review, score, tag, warning signal, search result, or AI summary does not mean Hoodie agrees with it, confirms it, or recommends for or against any teacher, course, supervisor, school, or academic decision.
• User responsibility: you should independently verify important information with official school sources, course materials, direct communication, and your own judgement before making academic, enrolment, supervision, employment, legal, or safety decisions.

Accounts and Security

• You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account, including reviews, extension submissions, membership actions, and redemption code use.
• You may sign in with username and password or supported third-party login providers such as Google. Education certification may be based on your email domain or Google hosted school domain.
• We may suspend, restrict, or remove accounts that are abusive, fraudulent, unsafe, unlawful, or harmful to the integrity of the community.

User Content

• You are responsible for reviews, ratings, teacher profile submissions, course information, department details, research areas, extension-submitted reviews, and any other content you provide.
• Reviews should reflect your genuine experience or good-faith knowledge. Do not submit fabricated reviews, spam, impersonation, harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual content, confidential school records, private personal data, doxxing, or unlawful content.
• Do not make serious allegations, including misconduct, harassment, discrimination, corruption, academic fraud, or abuse of power, unless you have a factual basis and express them responsibly.
• By submitting content, you grant Hoodie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, moderate, analyse, summarise, translate, and use that content to operate and improve the service, including teacher statistics, AI-assisted profiles, search, comparison, and moderation.
• You may request deletion of content you submitted. After verifying the request, we will remove or delete eligible user-submitted content where required by law or reasonably practicable. Some derived, anonymised, aggregated, backup, audit, safety, anti-abuse, or legal records may be retained where permitted.
• We may moderate, hide, edit for formatting, de-rank, aggregate, anonymise, or remove content to protect users, teachers, schools, the service, or legal compliance.

Teacher Profiles, Scores, and AI Features

Teacher profiles, scores, tags, radar charts, comparison metrics, review summaries, and AI-generated evidence signals may be created from user reviews, teacher metadata, public academic information, and automated analysis. These outputs are informational only and may be incomplete, outdated, biased, or inaccurate.

You should not rely on Hoodie as your only source for academic, enrolment, supervisor, employment, legal, safety, or financial decisions. Always verify important information with official university sources, course documents, school policies, and direct communication where appropriate.

Membership, Billing, and Rewards

• Hood free users may access basic community features. Hooded Fellow membership may unlock benefits such as teacher comparison, full reviews, teacher profile details, and Chrome extension quick lookup.
• Paid monthly or annual membership is processed by Stripe. Prices, taxes, supported payment methods, local currency display, renewal dates, and billing details are shown during checkout or in the Stripe customer portal.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe customer portal when available.
• Refunds are not guaranteed unless required by applicable law or expressly stated by Hoodie. If you believe there has been a billing error, contact us promptly through the support channel.
• Redeem codes and free membership rewards may have eligibility limits, expiry rules, single-use restrictions, and abuse checks. Review submission rewards and extension activation rewards are intended for genuine use only.
• We may change membership features, prices, reward durations, or redemption rules for future periods. Existing paid subscription rights will be handled according to the checkout terms and applicable law.

Chrome Extension

The Hoodie Chrome extension detects teacher names on supported academic, LMS, student system, course selection, supervisor search, and public university pages, then shows rating entry points, profile tags, and membership-aware teacher information. The extension requires broad host permissions because supported academic pages vary widely by institution and platform.

• You are responsible for using the extension in a way that is permitted by your school, employer, platform, browser, and applicable law.
• Do not use the extension to bypass access controls, scrape restricted systems, collect other users' private information, or interfere with third-party websites.
• Extension results are provided for convenience and may not identify the correct teacher in every context.
• The extension may sync your Hoodie login state, check membership status, submit reviews you write, and claim extension-related membership rewards.

Prohibited Conduct

• Do not attack, overload, reverse engineer, disrupt, or attempt unauthorised access to Hoodie, its APIs, payment flows, admin tools, extension, or data stores.
• Do not automate account creation, review posting, scraping, rating manipulation, membership reward claims, or redemption code use without written permission.
• Do not resell, share, or transfer membership access, session tokens, Stripe portal links, or redemption codes except as expressly allowed.
• Do not use Hoodie to violate privacy, intellectual property, school policies, browser store rules, or any applicable law.

Intellectual Property

Hoodie, including its interface, software, extension, branding, design, databases, generated profile structures, and service content, is owned by or licensed to Advanced Additive Manufacturing Technology LTD and its licensors. You may use Hoodie only as allowed by these terms. You retain ownership of content you submit, subject to the licence you grant us to operate and improve the service.

Third-Party Services

Hoodie integrates with third-party services such as Google Sign-In, Google AI/search services, Google Fonts, Stripe, AWS, Tencent Cloud SES, browser extension APIs, and content delivery networks. These services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party websites, school portals, LMS platforms, payment provider outages, browser store decisions, or third-party content linked from Hoodie.

Availability and Changes

We aim to keep Hoodie useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free AI outputs, complete teacher coverage, permanent storage of any review, or continued support for every school system, LMS, browser, or extension platform. We may add, modify, restrict, or discontinue features as the service evolves.

Disclaimers and Liability

Hoodie is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation. We are not liable for academic decisions, course selection outcomes, supervisor choices, missed opportunities, reputational harm, third-party platform actions, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Hoodie.

Termination

You may stop using Hoodie at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, revoke rewards, or restrict membership features if we believe you violated these terms, created risk for the community, misused the extension, abused billing or rewards, or caused legal or operational harm.

Changes

We may update these terms as Hoodie evolves. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of Hoodie Academic Community after an update means you accept the latest version.
